Voter Registration
Voting in Texas is done by county. The summary information provided applies to everyone voting in Texas.

The city of Houston spans three counties To see if you are eligible to vote in Houston’s mayoral race and who your city council member is, enter your street address here.
You may register to vote if you fulfill all of the following requirements:
- Are a United States citizen;
- Are a resident of Harris County;
- Are at least 17 years, 10 months of age (To vote, you must be 18).
- Have not been declared totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction;
- Not finally convicted of a felony, or, if so convicted must have (1) fully discharged the sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court; or (2) been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote.
You must register to vote at least 30 days prior to the election you wish to vote. The registration deadline for the Houston November 7, 2023 general election is October 10, 2023.

Return your completed application to any Elections Administrator’s Office location Monday – Friday, between 8:00am and 4:30pm or mail to:

2. Click Here and request that a postage-paid application form be mailed to you.
3. Email voters@harrisvotes.com and request that a paper application be mailed to you. Make sure you provide a mailing address and phone number in your email request.
4. Call 713-274-8200 to be assisted in English, Vietnamese, Chinese, or Spanish.
5. Pick-up an application at your local U.S. Postal office, library, high school, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Health and Human Services Commission and other government offices.
Search for your voter registration status on Harris County’s or the Texas Secretary of State’s website. If you are currently living in Harris County but are registered to vote in another county, you must be registered to vote in Harris County at least 30 days prior to Election Day in order to vote in Harris County.
